Our introductory gun dog puppy training program is not just for puppies. It fits any gun dog that needs more experience with birds, guns and anything hunting related. This flushing and pointing gun dog puppy training program is for pups between the ages of six months and a year-and-a-half. The training program lasts 4-6 weeks at the kennel and includes introduction to gunfire, obedience, and lots of bird contact. Once dogs have had this introduction, a specific training program can be set up for your bird dog.
New: Tracking training pen! Our Brook Park training facilities now include a large, grassy, enclosed training area where we can release clipped-wing birds. This is a great tool we use for teaching the “hunt dead” to flushing dogs or advanced pointing dogs.
Birds, birds, birds make the hunting dog and this summer training camp will expose your gun dog to hundreds of wild pheasants, sharptails, and Huns in their native grassland habitat. The best way to build intense bird drive in any gun dog. Your pointing or flushing dog will be exposed to real-life hunting situations and will learn to range, quarter and effectively work cover. The 2018 camp last five weeks, and departs Minnesota on July 21.
Each winter, Matt serves as a bird hunting guide on one the largest private quail leases in the U.S. The wild bobwhites of South Texas will bring out the best in your personal pointing dog, where up to 30 coveys per day may be encountered. Stud dog owners and breeders have also used this winter camp to showcase their bloodlines to an elite clientele of Texas business leaders and their corporate partners. This year’s trip will depart Minnesota in mid-December 2018 and will return in early March 2019.
